Surrey Stingers 2007/08 Awards Night
1st March 2008 - 7pm - Varsity Centre, Guildford
Although not the greatest of seasons, the Stingers will be handing out the coveted MVP awards on Saturday March 1st at the Varsity Centre Bar. There have been some outstanding contributions both on and off the field by certain players and these deserve to be recognised. Fans, friends and family are cordially invited and we hope to make this night a huge success... and don't forget, it's the only place you can get your 2007/08 Yearbook!

Battle of The Blues
Surrey Stingers vs. Brighton Tsunami
24th February 2008 - Varsity Centre, Guildford
The Stingers ended their season on Sunday with a home game against Brighton. For several senior players this game was to be their last game in a Stinger uniform and they were hoping to leave on a high note by defeating the Tsunami for Surrey’s first win of the season.

Stingers AGM 2008

ALL MEMBERS of the University of Surrey Stingers are expected to attend the annual general meeting which will take place in the Varsity seminar room at 10am, 24th February. The AGM is the meeting used to dicsuss the current season, recommendations for next and the opportunity to vote in new committee members. Southampton Supreme Again
Surrey Stingers vs. Southampton Stags
3rd February 2008 - Varsity Centre, Guildford
The Stingers travelled south to face the Stags for the second meeting of the two teams this season. Surrey knew that a win against the unbeaten Stags would be a difficult task but this did not stop the Stingers playing with passion and intensity from the opening kick off right down to the last second of the fourth quarter.

The Royal Holloway Vikings visited the Surrey Stingers on Sunday 3rd February in the Stingers’ first game back from the Christmas break. Surrey were looking to avenge their week two loss to the Vikings, as well as pick up their first victory of the season.

The Stingers lost their third game of the season on Sunday as they faced the Reading Knights on a day where the weather proved to be the biggest factor.
The loss pushes Surrey to the bottom of the Southern division as Reading picked up their first win of the season

The Stinger's home opener saw them go up against the Southampton Stags in an intense battle between two old rivals.
Surrey were looking to improve on last week's performance against Royal Holloway where their defence was stellar but the offence couldn't find the endzone.

Vikings Victorious
Surrey Stingers vs. Royal Holloway Vikings
4th November 2007 - Egham Rugby Club
The Surrey Stingers’ season got under way on Sunday 4th November against the Royal Holloway Vikings in a low scoring tight game.
The Stingers were looking to start off the 2007 campaign on a good note and rushed for 122 yards on the ground but could not find the end zone in an opening game where both defences played the more important roles.

Vikings Venue Change
The venue for the Stingers BUAFL season opener has been changed! The Royal Holloway Vikings no longer play at the Brunel University playing fields but are now located at Egham Rugby Club, Englefield Green, TW20 0UE. Kickoff will be at 1pm.

Kingston Minibus On The Move
The Stingers Committee are pleased to announce the start of the Kingston player pickup with the minibus service starting this Sunday 7th Oct.
The bus will be on the main Kingston campus (Penrhyn Road) at 9.45am leaving promptly at 10am.
The cost is £3 per person and this includes the return drop off after training. This service will run every Sunday.

Rookie Sunday 2007
The Stingers annual rookie day took place on the 23rd September with great success. The rookie day is designed to be a brief introduction to the game for all potential players. Many of the new recruits left the Varsity Centre with a greater understanding of the game and a drive to want to make the squad this year. With around 80 new recruits attending, the season ahead looks bright for the Stingers.

Head Coach Pete Vaughan had this to say about the schedule: "We have a long history with most of these teams, and it means that every game is important … any team is going to have to be at least 6-2 to even have a sniff of the playoffs".
The Stingers are looking forward to the upcoming season, forming new rivalries and settling old scores.

First Practice of the Year
Training resumes on the 9th September 2007 at 11.30am the Varsity Centre. Players are expected to bring all the necessary equipment as pre-season starts from now!
Although Kingston students aren't back at University for another couple of weeks, we still hope you make the trip as we need the whole team and especially the senior players to start working together ASAP!

Stingers Unveil NEW 07/08 Kit
Today saw the arrival of the Surrey Stingers new home strip. The Royal Blue and Yellow shirts, The official colours of Surrey University, reflect the team's new drive to be a bigger part of the University's sport scene this season.
